Information Format Trends
-I hope what the unnamed medical university is doing, self-publishing it's material, becomes more of a trend. Does this still cost money or is it free? When i graduated I lost all access to great history and classics journals because of their expense. As I will again when I graduate this time.
-I didn't get my first cell phone until almost 2 years ago, but its interesting that they specify camera phones within their statistics on page 5. I don't think anyone I know doesn't have a cell that is also a camera. Same with internet for that matter.
-Just a personal thought: I think wikis are genius. Getting like minded people together across geography to create something together that interests them all.
-Page 9: So in 2003 the magazine industry finished with a loss. I wonder how it has done since then? I hope we go over, in class, the latest stats for the bar graph material.
-Is there a scholarly journal that DOES NOT offer a digital version of its material?
-I had completely forgotten about Duke passing out the ipods in 2004. Wonder whatever happened? Do they still? I certainly don't recall this becoming a big fad since then.
Lynch
While it would be wonderful for everyone to know everything Lynch wants everyone to know, I'm not sure it is possible or truly necessary, at least not to the extent that I inferred he means. Of course it's good to know how things work, but does knowing that google works by rating search-returns by how often the subject has been linked to by others really allow me to use google better?
Vaughan
I must be missing something with this one. It seemed like i could only get this article by paying for it. What am I missing?
